Soba

Yamagata is known as one of best soba (noodle) sites in Japan. I recommend soba with seasonal tempra. In spring, wild vegetable of mountains and young bamboos are good. Mushrooms in fall are also great. Putting fresh wasabi in soba source, have wonderful soba!

Tendo City is next to Yamagata City. Most pieces of shogi are made in Tendo. You don't know shogi? That is like a Japanese chess game. Koma is popular as a souvenir.

If you want some coffee or tea in Tendo, I recommend stopping by the cafe at Tendo Music Box Museum. Listening melody of music boxes, you may have good drinks.
